Megan Hillukka on Grief and Anxiety after Child Loss

Trigger Warning: Child Loss

Megan Hillukka is a bereaved mother, with 7 children, one who died suddenly at 15 months old – her precious Aria.

Because of Aria, Megan now encourages and supports grieving mothers that though the worst thing has happened to them, their life is not over. She is the creator of a space called Grieving Moms Haven, where she helps moms learn how to process and move through the emotions of grief through meditation, tapping meditation, breath work and other mindfulness practices.

Grieving Mom’s Haven also provides a place of safety and compassion within grief, so that these moms can feel themselves again and hope for their future.

This episode is emotional and powerful and I believe it is a very important conversation for us to be having.

In this episode we cover:

  • Megan’s own journey with grief and trauma as a bereaved mother
  • How and why she made the decision to support other grieving mothers
  • The layers of grief that losing a child brings and the trauma that comes alongside this loss
  • How grieving mothers can begin to ease their pain
  • The importance of mindfulness and getting to know your body
  • The impact that Grieving Mom’s Haven is having for other women and on Megan
  • What Megan wants you to know if you are grieving the loss of a child

These conversations aren’t easy, but they are important ones to have, and I am so grateful for Megan for using her experience to inform, guide and support other women. Sending you love as you listen to this and an extra big hug to those of you living through the unspeakable pain of child loss.
