Honest Words for the Invisible Moments of Becoming

I write to illuminate the spaces that so often go unspoken – especially in matrescence, identity shifts, and the unseen labour of holding it all together. My words offer companionship and insight for women navigating the transformative seasons of life.

Seen Again: Light on Matrescence

Pre-orders open 3 March 2026

Publication Date 30 June 2026

Seen Again is a modern companion through matrescence, the profound transition of becoming a mother.

Matrescence is a biological, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual transformation that can leave mothers without the language or support to make sense of who they are.

Many feel disconnected or invisible, wondering:

Who am I now? Is it normal to feel this way?

Blending intimate memoir, eighteen real-life stories and years of coaching into a compassionate framework, Benita Bensch explores the inner landscape and seismic shift of matrescence with unflinching honesty.

If you have ever felt lost, remember: you are not broken, you are evolving. This is an invitation to reimagine your next season of life, free of shoulds.

Seen Again: Light on Matrescence is a return to the inner campfire, where the dark is honoured, the light is reclaimed, and your true self is waiting to be seen again. By you, first.

Benita Bensch is an Australian author, coach and speaker whose work centres on identity, transition, purpose and visibility. She gives voice to the moments women often carry quietly — the identity shifts, the unseen load, and the seasons of change that can be difficult to name.

Blending storytelling, lived experience, nervous system awareness and her work as a clarity coach, Benita creates thoughtful spaces where insight, connection and steady transformation unfold naturally. She supports women who feel disconnected from themselves to feel seen again and return to their inner truth. Her work also extends to women in rural communities, where she guides conversations around capacity, clarity and courage in the context of regional life.

Benita is featured as an author on the Australia Reads Author and Illustrator Directory — a free national resource connecting event organisers with local authors and illustrators for schools, workplaces and community events across Australia.

Matrescence Volume 1

The Matrescence Project by Sarah Churcher

Launched October 2025

I’m deeply honoured to have had my matrescence story, along with a beautiful photograph of our family, published in Matrescence Volume 1, which launched in October 2025.

Being part of this project feels profoundly special to me, both as a mother and as someone who has spent years exploring the identity-shifting journey that motherhood brings.

The Matrescence Project is an invitation to honour the profound journey into motherhood — the emotional, physical, and identity-shifting transformation that reshapes who we are.

I’m seeking 50 mothers to share their stories of matrescence — the quiet reckonings, the powerful awakenings, the joy and the redefinition of self. Whether or not you use the word “mother” to describe yourself, if you have carried, birthed, or mothered a child, your story matters.

Together, these stories and portraits will form a collective work — a celebration of the becoming.
